Participation at the Greek TurkisH Festival Kavala 12.06.09 Print E-mail

The Greek - Turkish Association Nea Daphni - Defne held its eighth annual Friendship Festival, with an opening event in the city of Kavala in Northern Greece on 12 June.

The association is dedicated to promote reconciliation and cooperation through trade, cultural exchange, and scientific, medical, environmental and archeological cooperation, in the spirit of Jean Monnet, one of the founder-fathers of the European Union.

As a non-governmental organisation, the Association has all the advantages of a small, flexible, but highly efficient organiser of interesting events.

Highlight of this year's festival was the presentation of a sculpture crafted jointly by greek anthropologist Dr. Adonis Kutsubas and turkish sculptor Ertug Atli.

Since the CCG 1972 shares the objectives of the association. Mrs. Katerina Kalogeropoulos Armenakis, President of the CCG 1972, visited Kavala and, after a day in a thoroughly friendly and animated atmosphere, had every reason to congratulate the organisers on a perfect event.

The festival continued for some more days and closed with a final ceremony at Cappadocia (Turkey) on 16 June.
